Environmental technology company Flexible Solutions International said its Watersavr product reduced evaporation by an average of 31% during testing on Lake Sahara in Las Vegas .
The Southern Nevada Water District conducted four months of testing that included more than 1,500 water quality measurements including dissolved oxygen, pH , calcium and suspended solids . According to Flexible Solutions International , water quality has not changed compared to 10 years of historical data .
According to the company, the Nevada Department Telegram Number Data of Wildlife agreed to allow testing in Sahara Lake , home to endangered razorbacks , primarily because the National Sanitation Foundation has approved the product for direct use in drinking water . Use water.
Flexible Solutions conducted a parallel study of the Sahara Lake , which showed a 29% reduction in evaporation.
The Sahara Lake Association voted to purchase the product and automatic dispensing equipment this year after being briefed by SNWA on the safety, efficiency and water quality aspects of using Watersavr.
Watersavr is a food-safe powder form of the active ingredients in Heatsavr products . It can be used in drinking water storage areas, aqueducts and canals, agricultural irrigation canals, ditches and reservoirs to reduce evaporation of free surface water .
According to the company, the product can reduce the evaporation of free surface water in reservoirs by up to 50% , depending on the size of the reservoir and wind conditions.
The company said the product , which has been trialled by Singapore, Turkey, the City of Colibana in Australia and the Owens Lake Authority in California , can safely contain evaporation losses from reservoirs. Reduce to one-quarter the cost of coastal desalination for communities.
A report released by the U.S. Forest Service in February said that over the next 60 years, most of the Southwest, parts of California, and the southern and central Great Plains will become the most vulnerable areas to water shortages in the United States.
