After the collapse in Plaza Artz Pedregal, where excess weight in the structure was allegedly to blame, Grupo Rióobo, responsible for structural calculation engineering, disclaimed its responsibility and said that the metal structure that fell was not part of the calculation and structural design processes that were their responsibility.
During the investigations, it was noted that the Mexico City Attorney General's Office indicated that a planter located at the top of the collapsed section generated excess weight for the structure that finally fell.
Among the companies that participated in the AQB Directory construction of the complex that was inaugurated on March 8 is Grupo Riobóo. For this reason, Alberto Woolrich, legal representative of the firm, has said that he would reserve any position until the technical opinions on the causes of the collapse were known.
Alberto also said that speaking of negligence as the cause of the accident is hasty, referring to what was said a day earlier by José Ramón Amieva, head of Government of Mexico City.
In a statement issued, the firm says that it is willing to collaborate with the authorities that carry out the corresponding procedures and expertise in order to clarify the facts.
«The structural design and calculations carried out by Grupo Riobóo were only for the concrete structures that make up the building. These works were carried out in full compliance with current regulations and in accordance with the quality standards established worldwide.
"The part that collapsed on July 12 is a metal structure that was not part of Grupo Riobóo's calculation and structural design processes."
Likewise, it also highlights that none of the companies that make up Grupo Rioóbo are dedicated to carrying out works and/or construction.
