Throughout her time as a lieutenant, Laura J. Richardson has proven that she can break glass ceilings within the United States military. And now she does it with one more, since she will now lead the largest command in the army.

When Gen. Robert B. Abrams leaves office, Richardson will be the first female commanding general of the U.S. Army's FORSCOM.
And Abrams said he would leave his position to be commander of the United States Armed Forces in Korea.
"It has been an honor to serve these past three years as commanding general of US Army Forces Command," Abrams' message said.
